Summer (CrossFit) Reads // “Mastery: The Keys to Success and Long-Term Fulfillment ” by George Leonard

Why it’s worth reading:

Reminds you that you are not always going to see steady improvement (you can’t keep adding 2.5kgs to your snatch every week) you will plateau and feel like you are not improving. The book talks about this and how the master knows that these plateaus have to occur and you should learn to love the plateau as you will eventually improve and gives some tools for success.

Favorite passage:

The next time my outward process stopped, I said to myself, “Oh damn. another plateau.”. After a few more months there was another spurt of progress, and then, of course, the inevitable plateau. This time something marvellous happened. I found myself thinking, “Oh boy. Another Plateau. Good. I can just stay on it and keep practicing. Sooner or later, there’ll be another spurt.”
