Have you been to the Regionals/CrossFit Games previously? Yes last year 2011 I competed as part of CrossFit Leeds team.
How has your training been leading up to the CrossFit Opens 2012? I trained as I normally would up to the Opens. I like to train as often as I can and I’m always conscious of my weaknesses and work on them. We have a strong group of girls at Leeds so we all push each other in different areas.
How will your training be leading up to the CrossFit Regionals 2012? Sam Briggs has been programming for me so training has stepped up a gear. I have lifted heavier in WODs than I would usually lift but I have surprised myself a few times and managed better than I thought. Sam also has a theory on how I should complete a WOD before I start, this often makes me push past a point where I would take a break.
What is your favorite WOD for Regionals? I like WOD 1, Diane. I think it’s a nice simple start to ease us in. I really like the look of the final WOD too.
What is your least favorite WOD for Regionals? I think it’s WOD 2, the one with the row. Only because me and a rowing machine do not get on.
What will you be focusing on leading up to the Regionals? Now the WODs have been released I will obviously pay attention to my weaker areas but I don’t want to get too bogged with it. Sam knows my weaknesses and where I need work so I think she is planning around this.
Who are your biggest competitors at Regionals? I think there are so many strong girls in the Regionals it would be hard just to pick a couple out .People are good at different things, I’m not very good with names so I’m sure there are going to be girls I’m not even aware of too.
Which WOD are you most excited to see performed? Some of the team WODs look really interesting. I think it will encourage more team work than was needed last year. I’m looking forward to the one where the bar has to be held while the partner is working.
Who are your most excited to see in action (men/women/teams)? Of course, Crossfit Leeds. Leeds has new faces this year. They’re working hard and again all have different strengths, it will be exciting to see them put it together.
