Workout 13.3 is Now Officially Over!
For the first time ever in a CrossFit Open, we had a repeat workout, with last year’s 12.4 becoming this year’s 13.3.
In total more than 110,000 competitors submitted a score for week three of the CrossFit Open. And it looks like we are improving as a community as well, with the majority of athletes who completed the workout in both years, improving over the past 12 months.
By the end of week three, both records were broken.
In the men’s half 22 year old Ben Smith topped the leaderboards for 13.3, scoring an impressive 329. That’s 10 reps more then Rich Froning, who finished in second place. Last year’s winner Neal Maddox also completed 319 reps but finished behind Froning because of his inferior tie-break time.
For the women, dual Games competitor Samantha Briggs now holds the record after completing 323 reps. Briggs was the standout performer of the week finishing 36 reps in front of her nearest competitor Camille Leblanc-Bazinet.
In the Teams division, we have a new overall leader with Valley CrossFit leading the way. The Southern California affiliate is just four points ahead of NorCal CrossFit with CrossFit Invictus rounding put the top three.
CrossFit Milford, who led the Open for the first two weeks is now in eighth place after posting the 47th best score for 13.3.
